A Little More Witchcraft and Demons

Three nights ago one of Yanitza’s uncles took a son to see a shaman because he was possessed by a demon.  The uncle’s name is Marco.  Marco’s family woke in the middle of the night to a banging noise on their front door.  He went to see who was outside only to find his 19 year old son asleep standing up with his head leaned on the door.  They certainly thought it was strange, but nothing extreme, so they woke him up and took him back to his bed.  Later that night they woke to someone yelling outside.  It was the same son, Luis, outside yelling like he was about to get in a fight with someone, but no one was there.  They were confused and told him that no one was where he was looking but he insisted that there was someone there who he was mad at and he kept yelling in a rage.  He began foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog, then the family took him to the regional shaman.  I didn’t have a chance to go, but Yanitza went there for about a half an hour.  She said that the shaman and the boy were closed inside where no one could see and that there was music playing loud.  The kid spent a few days locked away with the Shaman and is apparently better now and staying with his grandmother.

The same night that happened I woke at 12:30 am and for some reason felt that I had to take a shower, although I had taken one at 7:00pm and its not hot here in the nights so I couldn’t have been dirty or sweaty.  I heard yelling at Marco’s house, but I just figured it was some kind of family fight so I didn’t pay it any attention.

Yanitza told me the next day that right after I woke up and went to the shower her and Hannah woke to the sound of some one walking around and whistling.  Yanitza has good instincts and is not overly superstitious, but she was scared, although that night she didn’t say anything to me about it.  When she did tell me I started to explain it away as goats that were loose walking around, but she was insistent and the goat theory doesn’t explain the whistling.  There are also no birds here that whistle like that.  The parrots could, but no one has trained them to and I have been here for a month now and have never heard them whistle.  The only explanation would be what Andrea told me about a couple weeks ago, that I wrote the first “Witchcraft and Demons” article about.  Some spirit or demon that whistles at night and will take you if you try to find out what it is.  Weird, but I can’t think of any other explanation.

By the way the Shaman charged about $550 US dollars, along with a bunch of food and stuff.
